Dora Foti

Dora Foti is Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari. She obtained the title of European Doctor at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain in 1999.

In the field of teaching, she has given courses mainly in Structural Engineering for the degree courses in Civil Engineering and for the degree course in Architecture: Earthquake Engineering, Bridge design, Building consolidation, Static Restoration for Architecture. She has held lectures and seminars in numerous professional training courses as well as at Italian and foreign universities and research institutes. She is the author of over 250 scientific publications in the field of Structures, where she mainly developed the topics related to the seismic behavior of structures, the study of dissipation and isolation systems for steel and reinforced concrete structures, vulnerability and damage assessment in historical buildings, the dynamic identification of buildings and infrastructures and the study of the effects of dynamic actions on bridges, innovative materials for constructions. She has participated in numerous invited seminars both in Italy and abroad.

She was Visiting Professor at the University of California at Berkeley, at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, at the Pontifical University of Chile.

She has participated in several national and international scientific projects, both as coordinator (Interreg Greece-Italy, ECOEST, SERIES, SERA) and member of the research team (PRIN, PON, Strategic, ReLuis, etc.). She is an experienced project auditor on behalf of national and international institutions.

She is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Advanced Structural Engineering (IASE), Springer Open, of Advances in Computational Design (ACD), An international journal and of The Open Construction and Building Technology Journal, Bentham Science Publisher, U.A.E. She has been a member of the Referees’ Committee of "Sciences and Research" since 2014. Also, she is part of the Editorial Board of several international magazines as well as being a member of the Scientific Committee of several International conferences.

Finally, she is Scientific Responsible for various conventions and framework agreements between the Polytechnic of Bari and Italian and foreign institutions.

 

Rossella de Cadilhac

Rossella de Cadilhac is Associate Professor for the Icar/19 (Restoration) ssd, in service at the ArCoD department of the Polytechnic of Bari. She is the owner of the “Architectural Restoration Laboratory” in the fourth year of the Master’s Degree in Architecture. She is carring out scientific activities aimed at deepening theoretical questions, at studying historical, material and technical aspects of traditional architecture, at stratigraphic analysis for the study of the built heritage. She has published books, essays, book chapters and contributions in national and international conference proceedings on the protection, conservation and restoration of the architectural heritage, with particular regard to the architecture of the mendicant orders, fortified works and places of abandonment. She is the scientific director of research on the conservation and enhancement of the Apulian architectural heritage in the context of agreements with Segretariato Regionale del MiC per la Puglia and with Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio per la città metropolitana di Bari.

 

Fabio Rizzo

Fabio Rizzo, PhD and Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, Department of Architecture, Construction and Design where I hold the chair of Construction and Structural Morphology. My research interest areas are structural dynamics, dynamic identification, stochastics and wind engineering. I am member of ANIV (The Italian Association for Wind Engineering), IAWE (the International Association of Wind Engineering) and of the CRIACIV (Interuniversity Research Center of Construction Aerodynamics and Wind Engineering).

 

Maria Francesca Sabba’

Maria Francesca Sabba’ is a Ph.D student in "Knowledge and innovation in the heritage project" at Politecnico of Bari.

Her field of interest is Structural Engineering, in particular: Earthquake Engineering, Masonry Building Behavoiur and Consolidation. She is  co-author of  15 scientific publications in the field of Structures, where she mainly developed the topics related to the seismic behavior of structures, Vulnerability and Damage Assessment in Historical Buildings, Dynamic Identification of Buildings and Infrastructures and Dissipating Frames for reducing energy consuption and seismic effects on buildings.

She has intervened to some seminars both in Italy and abroad. She partecipated to some national and international projects: PRIN, ReLuis; Interreg Greece-Italy.

 

Armando La Scala

Armando La Scala is a Ph.D student in "Knowledge and innovation in the heritage project" at Politecnico of Bari.

His field of interest is Structural Engineering, in particular: Fire Engineering, Masonry Building Behavoiur and Consolidation, Earthquake Engineering. He is co-author of 4 scientific publications in the field of Structures, where he mainly developed the topics related to the fire behavior of structures, the Vulnerability and Damage Assessment in Historical Buildings, the Dynamic Identification of Buildings and Infrastructures and the Dissipating Frames for reducing energy consuption and seismic effects on buildings.

He has intervened to some congress in Italy. He partecipated to some national and international projects: PRIN, ReLuis.

 

Paolo Perfido

Graduated with honors at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice (IUAV), he has oriented his professional and research activities to the issues of architectural and archaeological relief in Italy and abroad, collaborating with Superintendencies and local authorities. He teaches Architectural Survey at the Polytechnic University of Bari and Drawing and Archaeological Survey at the Aldo Moro University of Bari.

He carries out an intense editorial and dissemination activity by participating in conferences and meetings on issues related to the reading of the historical architectural organism. In particular, in his latest works he has dealt with fortified architecture with studies and research on towers, castles and fortified cities in Puglia. Among his most recent studies are the monographs: A war machine of the century. XV: the polygonal tower of Conversano (2016); San Benedetto in Conversano. History, survey, restorations, with Valentina Castagnolo (2018); The city and its defenses. Formation and development of the urban area of ​​Conversano in the XI-XVII centuries, with Vito L'Abbate (2021). In 2016 he organized at the Polytechnic of Bari with V. Castagnolo, R. de Cadilhac and G. Rossi the Study Days on Fortified Architecture: Survey and Restoration.

 

Ignazio Carabellese

March 1980. Degree in Architecture at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice obtained on March 21, 1980; 110/110 laude.

April 1980. Qualification to practice the profession of Architect, Polytechnic University of Milano with the vote of 100/100.

November 1995. He got the PhD title in "Conservation of Architectural Heritage" - VII cycle-University Federico II - Naples.

January 1999. University researcher, confirmed in July 2003.

The teaching activity takes place in a spirit of service to the discency and in direct relationship with the topics cultivated in scientific research. The didactic moment is constantly developed also through seminars, study visits, etc., as an opportunity to extend the horizon of disciplinary knowledge and as a starting point for critical reflection on the themes that belong to the discipline.

He was part of the teaching board at the PhD in Conservation of Architectural Heritage of the University of Naples "Federico II"; he also carried out the scientific coordination of third-level courses relevant to the scientific disciplinary sector, which the Polytechnic University of Bari continuously promotes. He was appointed Commissioner in evaluation commissions of competitions for the role of university researcher, as well as in the selection boards for the final examination in PhD courses. The teaching activity has been articulated with the teaching of the discipline within the DICAR department since 1997 as a contract teacher of the courses of Building Recovery Technologies and from 1999 until today as a teacher of the courses of Laboratory of Architectural Restoration and Theories and History of Restoration. He taught as a substitute professor at the Degree Course in Architecture of Matera in the years 2014-15, 2016-17; 2017-18.

 

Giacomo Martines

Giacomo Martines is Assistant Professor in Restoration, enrolled in the ArCoD department of the Polytechnic University of Bari. He Leads the “Architectural Restoration Laboratory” course (12 cfu) at the fourth year of the Master’s Degree in Architecture); “Landscape Restoration” course (3cfu) and “Restoration Worksite stage” course (7cfu) at the second year of the Specialization School of Heritage Conservation.

His scientific activities are linked to the Urban Restoration and the Landscape and Territory valorization, also linked to the historical and traditional materials and techniques.

His publications (national and international) are about the main plot of his research themes: Urban and Landscape Restoration, Valorization of the Heritage and the Landscape, Diagnostic for the Heritage conservation, Didactic methods for the heritage restoration.

He is Scientific coordinator for several framework agreement between the Department and the local Municipality (Carosino-TA; Bitonto-BA, Gravina in Puglia-BA) or Archaeological Areas (Ostia Antica Archeological Park).

He is an active member of the Scientific Committee of the ARCo Association (Association for the Conservation of the Heritage).
