Mario De Stefano

Prof. Mario De Stefano has been awarded a BSc in Civil Engineering from Università di Napoli Federico II in 1986, a MSc from University of California at Berkeley in 1990 ed a PhD from Università di Napoli Federico II in 1992. He is full professor of Structural Design at the Department of Architecture (DIDA) of the University of Florence and he has been Head of the Department of Constructions and Restoration from April 2010 to December 2012. He has been participating in international research projects with the University of California at Berkeley, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and the State University of New York at Buffalo. Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Working Group 8 (Seismic behaviour of irregular and complex structures) of the European Association of Earthquake Engineering. He has been member of the Executive Board of the Italian Association of Earthquake Engineering and of the Executive Board of the Italy Chapter of American Concrete Institute. He has been awarded many research grants from the Department of Civil Protection, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Government of Tuscany Region, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the National Council for Research and other scientific Institutions. Prof. De Stefano is author of more than 100 scientific papers, many of them published on international journals; he has organized national  and international scientific events; he has been member of scientific Committees of national and international conferences and he has been invited to give scientific Seminars from national and foreign University, such as the University of California at Berkeley, the Columbia University, the  State University of New York at Buffalo and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

 

Antonino Maria Marra

Antonino Maria Marra is Assistant Professor (RTD b) of Structural Engineering (ICAR/09) at the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence. In 2011, he obtained the PhD on “Mitigation of Risk due to Natural Hazards on Structures and Infrastructures” in a joint program between the University of Florence and the Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany) with outstanding degree. He is a member of CRIACIV (Interuniversity Research Center on Building Aerodynamics and Wind Engineering). His research interests focus on the seismic risk of monumental buildings, structural health monitoring and wind effects on civil and industrial structures.

 

Vieri Cardinali

Arch. Vieri Cardinali (Ph.D.) is member of the DIDA-UNIFI research group; in the PRIN project he is involved in the numerical modelling and seismic analysis of masonry building aggregates. He is currently serving as a RELUIS scholarship researcher under Prof. De Stefano supervision. His research interests are related to the structural safety of existing buildings, Cultural Heritage buildings and the seismic assessment of the residential urban stock.
