WP5 – SMART MANAGEMENT OF DATA FROM MONITORING

WP Leader: UNIPARTHENOPE

Participants: UNIFI, UNIPARTHENOPE, POLIBA, UNICA, UNIBO

Task 5.1: SMART model updating

Model updating will be conducted through a Bayesian approach, which allows including in rigorous manner the information coming from the monitoring system. In particular, prior distributions will be defined for the input parameters of the models, this information will be defined according to literature as well as through expert judgment. After, the distributions will be updated through a Bayesian procedure in which both modeling and measurement uncertainties will be taken into account.

Task 5.2: SMART damage assessment

In this task, damage assessment procedures will be developed to identify, localize and quantify damages in the structures. Their validity will be tested by observing their capacity to identify simulated damaged on the updated models. The research will try to unify the procedures as much as possible in order to provide a tool easily adaptable to the analyzed case studies.

Task 5.3: SMART maintenance

The structural health monitoring systems implemented in the Project will be used to gain information useful for the maintenance of the structures. Frequency of the inspections, priority in the interventions will be regulated by the monitoring systems, for instance.

Task 5.4: SMART restoration and retrofitting

By using the monitoring system developed, the performances of restoration and retrofitting implemented on existing structures will be checked together with the assumptions standing behind their design. The optimization of the reinforcement system-monitoring system will be developed through multi-criteria decision-making techniques.
